Everton FC player ratings against Liverpool
Feb 8 2010 by Ian Doyle, Liverpool Daily Post
TIM HOWARD: Very few saves to make, but will be disappointed with his part in Liverpool’s winner. Score: 6
PHIL NEVILLE: Liverpool rarely attacked his flank during the first-half, but was busier after the break up against Maxi. Also culpable for Kuyt’s goal. Score: 6
SYLVAIN DISTIN: Was shaky in possession early on and appeared to be affected by the occasion with some loose defending, particularly when up against Ngog. Score: 5
JOHN HEITINGA: Everton’s best defender, the Dutchman revelled in derby atmosphere, as shown by his booking for a foul on former Atletico Madrid team-mate Maxi. Score: 7
LEIGHTON BAINES: Forced a save from Reina with a first-half free-kick, but was otherwise kept busy by incessant pressure from Kuyt and rarely had chance to join the attack. Score: 6
LANDON DONOVAN: Bright before the break and had the legs of Insua out wide in the second-half until curiously brought inside, where his threat became increasingly limited. Score: 6
MAROUANE FELLAINI: Typically busy and involved in a scrappy midfield battle, but was fortunate not to also be awarded a red card following his challenge with Kyrgiakos. Score: 6
