Korova bar and restaurant, Wood Street, Liverpool _320
SITUATED at the heart of Liverpool’s thriving nightlife scene, Korova, on Fleet Street, offers a unique and lively atmosphere with its hip decor and underground sounds.
Every night of the week you can enjoy live alternative music from electronic to indie to techno, and it has become the hang-out for city muso-types. If you are after an unusual sound, you will find it here. From upcoming artists to stars like Gossip, The Klaxons and Mark Ronson they have all played in the bar’s basement club, while club nights include Evol and the burlesque-led Strip Club.
Upstairs in the bar area, boothed seating and drop-down TVs provide an intimate setting which makes it great for meeting up with friends.
Korova offers a wide variety of alcoholic beverages with the average price of a beer coming in around £2.75, while a spirit with a mixer is around £2.90.
Korova also provides a varied food menu in its recently-opened Red Room which feels like something out of the legendary Twin Peaks TV series. Within its deep red walls you can choose from meals such as spicy chicken satay price (£9.95) and unusual deserts like the chocolate chilli tart served with pistachio ice cream, priced at £4.50.
Membership cards are offered free and give you a 20% discount on food and drink while the student membership card costs £3 but offers a 30% discount.
Korova serves food Monday to Sunday between 12.pm and 8pm and the bar itself is open from 11am until late Monday to Saturday and on Sundays closes at 12.30am.
