Lloyds No. 1 Bar, St John's Way, Liverpool _320
EVEN though it opened six years ago, Lloyds No. 1 Bar is still pulling them in.
The Fall Well, on Roe Street, where the building is situated, is steeped in history as it once housed one of the main supplies of fresh water in Liverpool. Now it is home to one of Liverpool’s main supplies of good food and great atmosphere.
Across the road from a long line of bus stops, it is one of the first things you see when you arrive in the city centre, and one of the last things you see when you leave.
Set over one main floor, it is very spacious and is lit up by the coloured lights behind and around the bar.
The seating to choose from includes stools, comfy couches and the more conventional tables and chairs, depending on what suits you best.
The choice of meals is wide and varied, with the selection of drinks ranging from cocktails to cider and soft drinks to real ale.
Big screens have Freeview digital television showing live subtitled news (on silent) all day, and terrestrial sport when it is showing.
On weekdays, the crowds that pour in consist mainly of city workers and students, whereas weekends see much more of a family environment with a lot of shoppers stopping to recharge their batteries.
Come the evenings, it becomes an adults only chill-out zone for those who just want to wind down in the city and have themselves a good time.
