Recipe: French Toast

FRENCH toast is a quick treat, it can also be done with Madeira cake instead of sliced bread. The choice is yours.

Ingredients

3 free range eggs

100ml (3½ fl oz) whole milk

4 slices Madeira cake

25g (1oz) unsalted butter

50ml (2 fl oz) clear honey, to drizzle

Method

1. Place the eggs and milk into a bowl and mix well.

2. Dip the cake slices into the egg mixture to coat, shaking off any excess.

3. Heat the butter in a frying pan and fry the cake slices for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden-brown.

4. To serve, place the French toast onto plates and drizzle with honey. For a special occasion add a little crispy bacon.
