THESE cheesey squares are simply delicious. Easy to make and hard to resist, they make a great hot snack out of fridge and store cupboard ingredients.
Ingredients (Serves 2)
4 slices of thick white bread, crusts removed
100g butter
175g Cheddar cheese (sliced)
2 eggs (beaten)
Pinch of salt and pepper
Pinch of mustard powder (optional)
Method
1. Using only half of the butter, butter one side of each slice of bread and use the cheese to make up cheese sandwiches.
2. Cut each sandwich in to 4 squares.
3. Beat together the eggs, salt pepper and mustard powder in a shallow dish then dip each sandwich square in the egg mixture to coat thoroughly.
4. Now melt the remaining butter in a frying pan and fry each square for five minutes on each side until crispy and golden brown.
5. Serve with some salad or coleslaw for a delicious snack when you’ve finished your homework!
