Expanding gallery puts art into next-door restaurant

AN ART gallery in a former village post office has expanded its displays for more people to see.

Artroom, in Parkgate, in Wirral, shows the work of contemporary regional artists.

Works on display now are by local artist Matthew Snowden, who has an eye for bringing to life the stunning colours and beautiful surroundings of Hilbre Island and the Wirral coastline.

Gallery owner Ian Wilson says: “Artroom only displays original art and our portfolio of artists ranges from abstract works and townscapes to still life.

“The gallery also supports Merseyside talents and strongly enforces its importance in building long-term relationships, starting from the beginning of an artist’s career.

“We believe in helping the arts, which can even incorporate working with local businesses to achieve this, enabling artists to gain support for displaying their work.”

More recently, Artroom has expanded its displays to the wall space of The Marsh Cat Restaurant next door.

Ian says: “This will enable visitors to the Parkgate area to appreciate, observe and purchase artworks out of normal gallery hours, in a relaxed quality environment.

“At the same time, this will also give some customers who never thought that art was for them the confidence to visit our gallery next door.

“They can then see the pleasures art can bring to any environment to whoever views it,” added Mr Wilson.

Artroom holds new exhibitions every eight weeks and is open Thursday to Sunday, 12pm to 5pm.

Viewing by appointment is Monday to Wednesday.
