Liverpool has the appetite to beat the credit crunch

Garrett Forsey, chef and restaurant owner

Customers will even bring him the fresh produce they have grown and he sources everything as fresh and local as possible.

"We always had good home cooking using local produce. The area is known for its wonderful seafood and that is still a big influence to me," he said.

One of the star attractions for diners will be Liverpool One, where a host of well-known industry names will be opening up in October. In fact, the second phase of Grosvenor’s development will alone have 14 food and drink outlets.

But elsewhere business is brisk, too. Brothers Gary and Colin Manning, owners of the much-acclaimed 60 Hope Street and The Quarter, are expanding their business portfolio with a new restaurant opening up in the autumn.

The new venue, HoSt (Hope Street), will present an East- meets-West fusion of dining, accompanied by the individual style and creativity the brothers are respected for.

Gary said: "The idea with HoSt is to expand on our existing values; family run, excellent food, and good service offering something completely different from multiple food chains and, of course, our supply chain will remain local. HoSt will be an eatery that really encompasses the unique cultural quarter of the city that is Hope Street".
