MOST children love pizza, and for most parents it is a good way of getting them to eat food they otherwise wouldn’t, like vegetables.

At Gusto, we offer an interactive culinary experience where children can build their own pizza and they are always delighted when their creation comes out of the oven!

Ingredients

For the pizza base

450g strong flour

¼ pt warm tap water

1.75g yeast

6g salt

12g olive oil

For the tomato sauce

1 tin chopped tomatoes

½ onion – chopped

1 clove garlic

2 dessert spoons tomato puree

4 leaves of chopped basil

Method

1. Add yeast to the warm water and whisk to dissolve. Add the flour and salt to the water and yeast mix to form a dough add the oil and knead for two minutes. leave to rest for at least one hour at room temperature.

2. To make the tomato sauce – soften onions and garlic in a little olive oil add the tinned tomatoes and tomato puree. Simmer gently for 20 minutes, remove from heat and let cool before adding basil.

3. Portion the dough into four and roll out to make the bases, top with some of the tomato sauce then add any toppings that take your fancy, like cheese, ham, mushrooms, tuna, sweetcorn.

4. Place on a floured baking tray and bake in a pre-heated as high as the oven will go until cooked for approximately 5-10 mins.
