Record repeat

DAVID Shacklady equalled the course record in the Knott End Ladies’ Pro-am the day after setting a new mark at Montrose with a nine-under-par 62 to qualify for the Open Championship at Carnoustie.

The 40-year-old Mossock Hall-attached professional did not quite reproduce that stunning form but his bogey-free three-under 66 was enough to give him a one-shot victory over Andrew Lancaster.

DETAILS: 66 David Shacklady (Mossock Hall); 67 Andrew Lancaster (Lytham Green Drive); 68 John Fisher (Huyton & Prescot); 69 Duncan Maffey (St Annes Old Links), Graeme Lisle (Carlisle), Chris Holt (Knott End), Joel Rodwell (S&A), Peter Barber (Didsbury).

GARY Lockerbie has confirmed he will compete in The Rock, the PGA North Region’s most lucrative tournament which carries a £30,000 prize-fund, at Matfen Hall on August 6-8.

It will be the third successive year that a European Tour player has entered the 54-hole event following Ken Ferrie and Graeme Storm last year.
