Maxwell win

TIM Maxwell produced a flawless four-under-par 68 to win the Fairhaven Winter Pro-am, the first in a series.

The Knutsford professional birdied the first hole, then added three more on the back nine to prevail by a shot from Geordie exile Jeff Mathews, from Samlesbury Golf Centre.

LEADING SCORES: 68 Tim Maxwell (Knutsford); 69 Jeff Mathews (Samlesbury Golf Centre); 70 Lee Shepherd (Willow Valley), Danny Haughian (Adlington), Peter Scott (Kendal), Jon Cheetham (Gatley); 71 Scott Connor (Manchester), Tim Rastall (Carus Green), Matthew Davies (Rhuddlan).

Meanwhile, there’s a full field of 50 teams lined up for the opening event in the Mansell Finishes Series at Hillside on Thursday.
