Formby enjoy first success in Colts final

FORMBY enjoyed an historic victory after emerging as the 2007 winners of the Liverpool Colts Competition Finals Day played at West Lancashire.

Four clubs took part after winning their respective leagues with Formby putting out Southport & Ainsdale 3½-1½ in the semi-finals.

Prenton pipped Wallasey 3-2 in a closely contested match.

In the afternoon final, played in improving weather but still with a good breeze, the Formby team, with aggregate handicaps of 12, just got the better of the Prenton team, with aggregate handicaps of nine, 3 -2. This was the first time that Formby had won the competition since it started in 1934.

The 2008 finals will be played at Grange Park Golf Club on Sunday, September 21, while the Bill Renison Trophies event will be held at S&A on Sunday, May 18.
