Alliance return to Ormskirk

THE Liverpool Alliance returns to action tomorrow, opening the spring programme that will bring a return to the Ormskirk club for the first time in almost 80 years, and a switch in the Spalding Cup matches from autumn to spring.

The Alliance, which last visited Ormskirk in 1930, will make a return for its meeting on Thursday, February 21.

The change in the Spalding Cup matches has been made to ease the pressure on the Alliance’s autumn programme. The Spalding Cup foursomes qualifying will be at Royal Liverpool on March 19 with the semi-finals and finals at Formby on the 26th. The Alliance open their Spring programme at Eastham Lodge tomorrow.

The rest of the fixtures are: Jan 23, Leasowe; 30, Prenton; Feb 6, Frodsham; 13, Formby Hall; 21, Ormskirk; 27, Southport and Ainsdale; March 6, Hillside (John Burton Trophy); 12, Warrington; 19, Royal Liverpool (Spalding Cup qualifying); 26, Formby (Spalding Cup semi-finals and final); Apr 2, Grange Park (Guy Taylor Trophy); 9, Lymm; 16, Wirral Ladies (Nelson Cup, mixed greensome); 23, Hurlston Hall.
