A HOLE-IN-ONE helped Hesketh’s young professional Martin Edge claim a share of top place when the Liverpool Alliance returned to action at Prenton after the cancellation of the last two events because of waterlogged courses.
Edge’s ace on the way to 37 points came with an 8-iron at the 138 yards 16th. Robin Carroll from Bromborough and Paul Platt, based at Portofina, Italy, also shared top spot.
The same three professionals were also among the leaders in the pro-am. Edge, with seven handicapper Will Sum, returned 46 points, four clear of the Bromborough father and son partnership, Robin Carroll with Peter.
Two pairs shared third place with 40, Paul Platt with Lee Park’s Tony Dawrant and Aintree’s Scott Duffy and Dave Bayes.
The Eaton partnership of Carl Robb and Dave Dawrant won the am-am with 43, one ahead of Tom Graves (West Lancashire) with Eric Goodwin from Childwall. Sandy Taylor and Dave Bynoth (Aldersey Green) were third with 40.
