George Harvey relishes Bidston Golf Club’s top role

GEORGE HARVEY of Greasby is the 2008 captain at Bidston Golf Club.

He is from Fife and after six years in the RAF, where he was a keen swimmer, he joined British Gas and played in their golf society meetings.

Looking for an interest as retirement approached, he decided to join the Wirral club.

He has been a member for about 14 years and plays with the "Vets."

His wife Gill – they met when he was with the RAF in Aden – is also a member at Bidston and was lady captain in 2006.

George, who takes office at the end of March, said: "I am delighted and honoured to take up the role of Bidston Golf Club captain for 2008 and I will cherish the responsibility that comes with it. I am also looking forward to playing my part in the build up to the club’s centenary in 2013"
