Milestone for Helsby charity success

HELSBY’S powered wheelchair appeal reaches a special milestone this summer.

The charity celebrates its 25th anniversary – and will be handing over its 250th wheelchair at their annual golf day on June 5 at the Cheshire club.

And organisers hope they can beat their record-breaking fund-raising for 2007 when a total of £46,900 was collected for the registered charity.

Appeal organiser Bert Dyson MBE said: “We are justifiably proud of this outstanding achievement, but we are well aware that without the support of our members, sponsors and friends, we could not have achieved this level of success.

“This past year has seen us provide 19 wheelchairs to children with varying degrees of mobility.

“Not only does it allow them to play and join in with other children, but it gives them hope, freedom and independence which is so important to us all.”

Entries are now open for the Wheelchair Classic at Helsby on June 5. The FourBall BetterBall Stableford competition costs £80 for every two players with further details available from the club.
