Golf: Lancashire B are buzzing

CHESHIRE and Lancashire B teams shared the honours 3-3 in the morning foursomes at Bromborough, but Lancashire overwhelmed their rivals in the afternoon, winning nine of the twelve singles with another match halved.

Stephen Hindle (Ellesmere) started the Lancashire assault, winning on the 18th, followed by Jack Brookes (Pleasingtion) 2&1, James Wilson (Formby), Adam Andrews (Ashton on Mersey), Daniel Sefton (Lancaster) and Paul Jones (Royal Birdakle), all winners on the 18th.

Michael Hearn (Chorley) won 5&4 and the Southport and Ainsdale pair of Paul Howard and Scott Fitzgerald continued their fine county form, winners in the foursomes and again in the singles, Howard 6&5, Lancashire’s biggest winner, and Fitzgerald, 2&1.

Cheshire’s consolation was a win for David Hird (Leasowe) at the 18th, a 3&1 victory for Phil Bolton from Chorlton-cum-Hardy and a half for Ron Hearty from Bromborough.
