Golf: Rachel Goodall named 2008 Cheshire Ladies champion

HESWALL’S Rachel Goodall is the 2008 Cheshire Ladies champion.

Goodall, still a county junior, came through the strokeplay qualifying rounds to beat Natalie Lowe (Prestbury) at the 19th in the final of the knockout stage at Sandiway. The championship was also a triumph for Kate Whitmore on her home course. Although beaten in the semi-finals she won the Doris Brown Trophy as the top qualifier for two rounds with 149 gross, the Intermediate Championship for the best 36 holes and the Millennium Trophy for Intermediates for the best 18 holes on the first day.
