Golf: Florentyna Parker edged out in final

ROYAL BIRKDALE’S Florentyna Parker narrowly missed out on landing the biggest title of her career.

She was edged out 2&1 by Gloucestershire’s Hannah Barwood in the final of the English Women’s Close Amateur Championship at Ganton, Yorkshire.

Parker, who is due to make her Curtis Cup debut next week, beat Emma Brown 1up in the semi-finals and Jenny Pease 2&1 in the last eight.
