TOM WOODS came close to securing a notable double at Bromborough.
The 16-year-old won the Centenary Trophy with a gross 76, nett 68, and then finished runner-up in the Spring Meeting. He returned a nett 71 from a round of 78, his handicap having been reduced to seven. It has now dropped a further shot to six.
Five-handicapper Mike McLoughlin took the Spring Meeting with a round of 75.
Meanwhile senior member Arthur Margerison took the seniors prize at the East Coast Classic in Siouthern Ireland while on a golfing trip with friends.
