Paragon Group says landlords need help

BUY-TO-LET mortgage specialist the Paragon Group is welcoming the Government’s proposals for the private rented sector (PRS), but urges more to be done to enable landlords to access finance.

In its response to the Rugg Review, a Government- commissioned independent review of the PRS, the Department for Communities and Local Government recognises that housing supply needs to grow in the PRS and has targeted institutional investment as the vehicle to achieve this.

Nigel Terrington, Paragon Group chief executive, said: “The PRS is dominated by individual landlords. Local tenant demand drives their investment decisions. More needs to be done to give those landlords access to the finance needed to help grow their business.”

MERSEYSIDE and Wirral Property Landlord Action Group is holding a free public meeting where Government proposals to bring in mandatory licensing registration for landlords will be discussed.

The meeting will be held this Thursday at the Village Hotel Conservatory, in Bromborough, starting at 7pm. Property owners intending to come along are asked to contact Richard Globe on 0151 639 6253 or Lorraine Smith on 0151 678 3575 (after 6pm).
