TIM SUNG, 25, has been a membership co-ordinator for Downtown Liverpool In Business since January.
He lives in the Unity Building, in Liverpool city centre.
This was his working day:
8:30am: I lie in wait (in bed, of course) and wait for all my housemates to leave. It makes it easier when you can get ready for work and not have to worry about how much clothing you have on and who sees you with or without any on.
8:55am: The morning raid on the fridge to stock up for the day. In the office, I’m known as “Tuck Shop Tim” and thus have a reputation to keep by bringing in a range of typically unhealthy snacks.
9am: Upon leaving my apartment, I’m faced with the arduous task of walking to work. I actually live within two minutes’ walk of the office – barely long enough to listen to one song on my iPod. A difficult decision to make, but Oasis or The Zutons always fills the void well.
9:15am: I’m always early for work. This gives me enough time to check the “man gossip” on the BBC Sport website. A few transfer rumours and stories about the mighty Liverpool FC and I’m ready for work. Unfortunately, there is a downside and that is that our chairman, Frank McKenna, is a true and bitter Blue – but that is just something he will have to deal with through life.
9:30am: I doubt there is anybody who doesn’t start their day without checking emails. My mailbox is usually buzzing with activity and today is no different. I have some interesting emails from our members, news from the business community and some exciting new businesses wanting to be part of DLIB.
10am: I certainly try to put the “sexy” in “Sexy Networking”, and enjoy helping our members to make introductions to one another. My first meeting of the day is with a member to discuss helping to facilitate an introduction and meetings with a further two members, done over the luxury that is the DLIB office coffee.
11am: Before lunch, I am providing a duty of care to our members by keeping them informed of our events and introducing the third in a series of “Legally Speaking” Briefings between DLIB and DWF, aimed at providing members with current legal know-how.
1pm: My lunch is no traditional affair – it is a battle between myself and avoiding eating salad.
2pm: Out and about in glorious sunshine meeting lots of members and passing on our fifth anniversary brochure as a gift.
4pm: Back in the office to fulfil numerous tasks and admin.
5pm: I’m managing the voting system for our gala award dinner, the Liverpool Business Awards. The votes are bursting from the seams since we announced the nominations at our amazing fifth anniversary party.
6pm: I’m still working – we’re a busy bunch at DLIB and tonight I’m attending an event hosted by one of our members. I have my business cards ready and waiting for the business glitterati I’m about to meet.
8pm: I’ve arrived and enjoy the festivities and meeting new people, along with sampling the exotic cocktails on offer.
Sometime before midnight: Home sweet home . . . kebab in hand and all in a hard day’s work.
