LIVERPOOL shops selling designer shades will get a bit busier over the next week as a delegation from the city prepares to jet off to Cannes for this year’s Mipim property conference, starting on March 15.
The Liverpool party will include representatives from the public and private sectors who will get down to the serious business of attracting inward investment to the city. However, this is the Cote d’Azur and opportunities for fun are never far away.
Trading Gossip recalls that back in 2003 the official Mipim guide book helpfully listed telephone numbers and price guides for local ladies of the night.
However, more wholesome fun will be had on March 18 when PR agency Ear to the Ground will hold its annual Hang the DJ event, where major figures from the world of property will be invited to play their three favourite records.
None other than Urban Splash founder Tom Bloxham, above, will be among those notables manning the decks.
THANKS to insurance giant Royal & Sun Alliance for providing some vital reassurance this week.
The company, one of Merseyside’s biggest employers, put out a statement to the Stock Exchange in reaction to the earthquake in Chile at the weekend which has so far claimed more than 700 lives.
The statement reads: “Saturday’s earthquake caused widespread damage and, while the situation is still evolving, RSA announces an estimated cost of around £30m, net of reinsurance, for claims. As reported last week, RSA currently expects to achieve a combined operating ratio of around 95% for 2010.
“Based on this estimated cost, RSA does not expect the earthquake to affect this guidance.”
Phew, what a relief – we were worried.
