“The International Trade Centre of the Chamber is a one-stop shop of international business support for the whole of Merseyside, covering Export Documentations, Market Research, Financial Support of European Objective One programme, International Business Training, Overseas Trade Missions, Inward Mission programme and International Seminars & Events programme.
The centre also houses the Chamber-owned and operated ChinaLink, an national centre of excellence in operating professional promotion projects, advisory and consultancy, trade negotiation and business set-up in both China and UK markets. UK Trade & Investment, the international trade arm of DTI and FCO, also operates its Merseyside office from the centre.
“The Chamber, through the ITC and its strong partnership with both key players in the private sector and public sector and its existing customer base, is striking toward offering professional support to more businesses and partners in overseas markets, and raising the global profile collectively for businesses in the Liverpool city region.”
The Investment of the Year award is for any business, either setting up for the first time in the region or which is renewing its commitment to the area by refreshing or expanding upon its existing presence in the area.
The Mersey Partnership acting chief executive David Moorcroft said: “Competition for inward investment has rarely been so intense. In this increasingly competitive climate spanning truly global markets, the scale of investment in regeneration driving this region's renaissance is notable.
“The levels of private sector commitment to Liverpool and Merseyside provide compelling messages.
“This forms a significant part of The Mersey Partnership's inward investment activity. Our work in this vital area is expanding with the unanimous support of our local authority partners as we create Merseyside's new single inward investment agency embedded within TMP.
“This will allow us to deliver more for Merseyside. We will continue to work with new investors in our city region like those entering this year's Regional Business Awards.
“In recent years, with the support of the Daily Post and its sponsors, these awards have become a valuable measure of the region's economic fortunes. TMP values the opportunity to support this category in the Awards programme.”
