TAKING a bite out of the Big Apple, a former special cons-table has bought a New York Police Depart-ment car for a new themed party transport business in Chester.
Sealand-based business CopHire.co.uk has added a fully functional NYPD vehicle to the New York City taxi it shipped from the US earlier this year.
The chauff-eured cars are hired out for children’s parties, wedd-ings, stag nights, hen parties and other occasions.
Business director Adam Dandy said the American police car had proved incredibly popular.
“Both the NYPD car and New York City taxi are instantly recognisable and everyone stops and looks,” he said.
The company was set up by Mr Dandy and Richard Stock-ton, who had been looking for a suitable business venture.
Mr Dandy used to be a special constable in Cheshire, but passed the chance of a full-time career in the force to concentrate on his family business, Dandy’s Topsoil.
