Liverpool John Moores University Cultural Engagement of the Year

TO MARK Capital of Culture year, the judges are looking for a business which has consistently been involved in a wide range of cultural activities, or has invested in maintaining and preserving culture.

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is investing over £24.1m in developing a new Art and Design Academy, which will become a leading centre of best practice and innovation in the North West.

Opening this autumn, the Academy marks an exciting stage in the University’s illustrious School of Art and Design, which was founded in 1825 as the Liverpool Mechanics School of Arts.

Through the Academy, LJMU will give individuals access to art and culture of the highest standard, with students encouraged to develop entre-preneurial skills while gaining a thorough understanding of industrial, commercial and domestic art and design.
