Hi-tech firm’s big break in Europe

CHESHIRE green energy product supplier Energetix has signed an agreement with a domestic boiler maker which could see its technology installed in millions of homes across Europe.

Energetix subsidiary, Energetix Genlec, is to collaborate with German heating technology firm, Stiebel Eltron, to integrate its micro combined heat and power (micro-CHP) unit into a boiler for the European domestic heating market.

Under the agreement, Stiebel will incorporate the Energetix Genlec micro-CHP unit into one of its boiler designs, while Energetix Genlec will provide technical expertise and a number of Genlec units for field-testing. Development will start in 2009.

The initial aim is commercial sales across Europe but the eventual aim is to take the product worldwide.

Both companies are seeking to cash on the growing demand for energy-efficient heating products. Stiebel Eltron’s UK operation is based in Wirral.
