Gaming firm arrests

THREE customers and a representative of Liverpool-based gaming firm Stanleybet International have been arrested in Athens and charged with violating Greek sports betting monopoly legislation.

Angry Stanleybet directors claim the action taken by the Greek authorities is in direct contravention to EU law.

Stanleybet intermediary Theodoros Lazaridis and his three customers were held in custody overnight.

However, the prosecutor released them without subjecting them to a court hearing. Instead, he ordered further investigation.
