NEWTON-le-WILLOWS tool hire firm Speedy Hire is expanding its fleet of battery-powered delivery vehicles as it bids to reduce its CO² emissions.
The company has deployed four of the electric vehicles, built by Coventry firm Modec, to carry out deliveries from Manchester and Heathrow. Last year, it became the first company in its sector to start using battery-powered vehicles after deploying four in London.
Speedy Hire’s safety, health, environment and quality director Mark Turnbull said: “Over the past five years we have introduced initiatives that have enabled us to reduce our average CO² emissions by 12%.
“Environmental performance is becoming a key purchasing decision for customers. We are continually looking for new and innovative ways to help our customers reduce their impact while enhancing their bid credentials.”
