Culina joins forces with rival

WARRINGTON logistics firm Culina has agreed to merge rival Wincanton’s UK chilled consolidation business into its own supply chain operation in return for equity stake.
The enlarged business will be majority-owned, managed and operated by Culina. Wincanton will receive a 20% equity stake.
Culina provides chilled and ambient logistics solutions to the food and drink industry from nine distribution centres across the UK.
Thomas van Mourik, chief executive of Culina, said: “Over the next few weeks, we will finalise the planning and commence the implementation of our expanded operational strategy, the primary
aim of which is to ensure that all our current and prospective customers continue to benefit from market-leading levels of service.”
Culina has a turnover of £125m, employs 1,600 people and operates a fleet of over 250 vehicles and 550 trailers.
