Liverpool media agency generates £45m of investment

THE agency charged with promoting the region’s media industries says Liverpool continued to build on its international reputation as a filming location during Capital of Culture year.

Northwest Vision and Media said more than 500 productions based themselves in the North West over the past year. It says its five film offices have helped generate £45m of inward investment.

Vision and Media’s Digital Departures scheme awarded £250,000 to three Liverpool production companies to make films in the city.

One of these awards went to director Terence Davies, whose film, Of Time and the City, which was praised by critics in Cannes, had its world premiere in Liverpool.

Other highlights include Guy Ritchie’s remake of Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr.
