LIVERPOOL retailer Chris Lee has suffered a second major blow in a week, with news that JJB Sports’ Lifestyle division is due to go into administration with 800 jobs at risk.
Mr Lee had been appointed to breathe new life into Lifestyle’s two brands, Original Shoe Company and Qubefootwear.
Last week Mr Lee’s Microzine shop on Bold Street closed and placed in administration.
Mr Lee said: “It’s a pity as we had drawn up some exciting plans for the future of the Lifestyle business. At this stage they have filed for administration so there is still a chance a buyer could come in.” It’s wait and see situation at the moment.”
JJB asked him to run the Manchester-based Lifestyle section last year and planned to move the head office to Liverpool.
A spokesman said: “JJB has for some months been reviewing its options in respect of the future of the Lifestyle division.
“The LifeStyle division continues to trade at a substantial loss and the directors of each of OSC and Qube have decided to file notice of intention to appoint administrators.”
