The future of 41 jobs at Zavvi’s Liverpool One store has been secured this morning after the entertainment group’s former chief executive Simon Douglas bought five stores.
His company, Head, are expected to complete on a further three stores by Friday while HMV have also acquired five stores.
In total 360 jobs have been saved although the administrators have announced the remaining 18 stores are to close with the loss of 446 jobs.
Tom Jack, joint administrator of Zavvi UK, said: “I would like to thank all of Zavvi’s staff and customers for their commitment and continued support for the business throughout the administration.
“Whilst it has not been possible to secure a sale of the business as a going concern, we are delighted to have been able to secure continued employment for 629 Zavvi employees”.
Head, which will also own stores at Bluewater, Dundee, Leeds and Manchester’s Arndale Centre, is expected to continue to trade the stores using the stock purchased in this deal and from other sources going forward.
