Stagecoach invest £1.5m on Liverpool-Preston bus route

NINE buses costing £1.5m will be introduced by Stagecoach North West on a route which has seen passenger numbers increase by 27% in two years.

The X2 route, which links Liverpool to Preston, via Southport and Crosby, has 800,000 passengers a year.

Alan Stilwell, operations director of Merseytravel, believes the investment is important for the network.

He said: “It is vital if we are to ensure we retain and grow the Merseyside bus network and, more importantly, that passengers feel safer and more comfortable.

“This fleet will support us in continuing to find ways to improve public transport provision in the region.”
