Liverpool web designers Webrevolve hold court with £250,000 US deal

A LIVERPOOL web design firm has been sentenced to a bright future after securing work worth up to £250,000 with American law organisations.

Webrevolve, which was set up last year, will develop sites outsourced by American firm Mankato Web Design, which has a significant presence in the legal sector in Minnesota.

The Liverpool firm was chosen after it delivered more than 70 standalone projects for Mankato, including a new website for Minnesota District Court.

Webrevolve’s web consultant, Alex Ormandy, said: “We expect the US work to be worth £250,000 over the next 18 months, while we are targeting £100,000 in the UK in our first year.

“In the next two to three months, we are planning to recruit another web developer and also possibly a salesperson.”

Currently the firm’s workload is split evenly between its US and UK projects and the company has big ambitions, as it builds a strategy to grow so it can match the city’s other leaading web design giants.

Webrevolve has an expanding client base on Merseyside, and has recently launched websites for Wirral-based food delivery service Chompsters and Tarbock leisure company AJL Bouncy Castles. Mr Ormandy said: “We are aiming, over the next five or 10 years, to get close to the position of other Liverpool web design companies such as Rippleffect and Mando.”

Mr Ormandy originally met Webrevolve director James Rowan while studying multimedia courses at Liverpool John Moores University, and both graduated in 2007.

Webrevolve was formed as a result of the university’s Business Bridge scheme which provided work-based placements for its students.

Through the scheme, Mr Rowan met Richard Turner, who provided the support to set up the firm and became a director. And the firm is committed to expanding its horizons as it grows.

Mr Ormandy added: “It’s important for us – and for lots of companies as things are tough – to not just look locally, but internationally.”
