Acquisition of City firm helps drive Hill Dickinson capital expansion plan

HILL DICKINSON will merge with London firm Middleton Potts, it was announced yesterday.

The 11-partner firm is a niche specialist in commodities based in the City of London. Its 40 staff will join Hill Dickinson’s existing London office, creating a 200-strong unit.

Hill Dickinson managing partner Peter Jackson said he expects the Middleton Potts operation to add £3.5m to the firm’s annual turnover. Both firms will practise under the Hill Dickinson banner, but will keep separate capital city offices for the time being.

There are no plans to move Hill Dickinson’s headquarters from Liverpool to London, but Mr Jackson could not rule out redundancies among back office staff in the future. He added: “This is a significant strategic acquisition for Hill Dickinson and, in particular, will enhance the international shipping and commodities skills we currently offer.”
