PROPERTY developers in Liverpool have told a senior Government official that levying rates on empty properties could cause them to cancel planned developments and even demolish perfectly sound buildings.
Jo Lappin, deputy regional director for housing, transport and planning, was speaking at a forum organised by Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and ExChange. He was told by those attending that a combination of EPR and strict sustainability criteria were making speculative schemes in Liverpool unaffordable.
