Co-op unveils design for new Manchester HQ

THE Co-operative Group has unveiled the design for its new head office building in Manchester.

To be built on land opposite the Co-operative Insurance tower, the new building will serve the UK’s largest mutual retailer, which now has a turnover of over £13bn.

Chief executive Peter Marks said the project would reflect the ethical values of the organisation in its design, construction and its relationship both with employees and surrounding communities.

It will provide around 320,000 sq ft of office space over 16 storeys.

Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council, said: “This investment will act as a catalyst for further regeneration.”
