Engineers are underselling themselves, say Scantec

A WIRRAL recruitment firm specialising in heavy industry says too many engineers made redundant by the recession are underselling themselves on the jobs market.

Birkenhead based Scantec says engineers, architects, designers and surveyors are failing to realise how they can transfer their skills and how a specialist recruitment firm can help them back into work.

“The key message is that there are jobs out there for engineers across the UK and the world,” said Scantec director Peter Bates.

“We need to explode this gloom and doom. It is not the case that there are no jobs. We speak to engineers who are working at Tesco stacking shelves and they come to us thinking they’re on the scrapheap. It’s ludicrous – we desperately need engineers’ CVs.

“If they’d come to us earlier, we could have got them back into work weeks or months ago. ”
