Mersey firms ‘should credit check new clients’

MERSEYSIDE companies are being urged to step up their credit checking procedures after a new survey for Cattles Invoice Finance showed just a quarter of small firms credit check new clients.

Cattles says firms could put themselves at risk by not carrying out checks.

Rob Parry, forensic director at accountancy firm Tenon, said: “There is very good reason to credit check customers – it is absolutely vital for businesses of all sizes to be aware of the risks from customers taking credit with no ability or intention to pay.”
