HALEWOOD car parts plant Getrag Ford is to receive £90,000 support for training to complement its investment in the site next to the Jaguar Land Rover plant.
The backing comes from the Learning and Skills Council to provide training for staff at the plant, which develops and manufactures manual and automated transmissions.
Getrag Ford, which employs more than 650 staff making car and van transmissions, this week announced it was investing more than £100m in a six-speed transmission which will eventually replace the product produced at Halewood.
Bob Taylor, plant manager at Getrag Halewood, said: “Training is absolutely critical to maintaining our competitiveness, so we were keen to look at ways to stretch our training budget.
“The Learning and Skills Council has enabled us to do this by providing £90,000 towards skills development.”
