MARKETING company CL5 says Liverpool firms are lagging behind their Manchester rivals in investing in their websites.
Liverpool-based CL5, founded by Peter Glover, says 35% of the 200 small and medium firms it polled in the North West had not invested in search engine marketing.
Half of those polled had failed to update their websites in the past six months.
John Elcock, head of search at CL5, said: “The results are remarkable, given that you would expect our leading private sector companies to have invested in their websites, even in a recession.
“Most of the Manchester companies we studied appeared to have invested more heavily in the last 12 months, rebuilding and improving site functionality. When we looked at the evidence of Liverpool-based businesses, we found the investment was significantly less.”
