A BOOTLE engineering firm has won a contract with industrial giant Rolls -Royce, worth more than £700,000.
Liverpool Fabrication Co, which manufactures specialist steel products, has won an order to produce 13 stainless steel lube oil reservoirs.
The reservoirs will be used by the Rolls-Royce Energy division in Ohio. Part of that division was itself previously based in Bootle.
Established in 1971, Liverpool Fabrication Co produces standard and bespoke products for a range of industry sectors including pharmaceutical, chemical, food and energy.
The company’s bespoke projects have involved the creation of display features for Liverpool’s Roman Catholic Cathedral and Coventry Cathedral. The firm employs 28 people and is based in Hawthorne Road, in Bootle.
It works for a host of blue-chip clients at home and overseas including Rolls-Royce, Allied Bakeries, American Air Filter, Cargill and SHS International.
The business and commercial team from the Royal Bank of Scotland in Southport provided a £100,000 funding package to help cover the initial increase in raw materials and production arising from the contract.
Liverpool Fabrication Co general manager Andrew Cash said: “Securing this contract is excellent news for everyone connected with the company.
“We have a good relationship with Rolls-Royce and have worked for them for many years.
“It’s a really positive development at a time when the manufacturing sector is struggling and we are confident of building upon this and securing additional orders from new and existing clients.”
Last year, the firm had feared for its future when Rolls-Royce relocated its gas turbine plant from Netherton to Ohio.
It had been supplying the company locally for several years. But managers flew to the US and successfully secured promises of new work.
Mark Nash, relationship manager at RBS, said: “Liverpool Fabrication Co is a successful local business that continues to perform well, due to the quality of product they produce and the skills of their workforce. We have a long relationship with the company and are very happy to provide support on this venture.”
