WINNING Women founder Esther McVey won the North of England Excellence award after graduating with a distinction in her MSc in Corporate Governance.
Ms McVey, who is the prospective Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Wirral West, graduated from the European Centre for Corporate Governance at Liverpool John Moores University.
The North of England Excellence award is given to the best performing student on the MSc programmes in corporate governance.
Ms McVey said: “I was intrigued with the dynamics of global business, how it can move globally, work internationally and cross government borders, so I wanted to study the controls, the demands, and the expectations of business, as well as learn about the relationship of business with shareholders, stakeholders and the public at large.
“I’m really proud. I have a law degree but I worked even harder this time around. There were distractions then. This time I lived in the library.”
