NOBLES Construction is reporting a 20% surge in first- quarter revenues to £10m.
The Liverpool-based construction specialist’s strong performance has been boosted by public sector work, largely in the education and health sectors.
It has recently secured contracts for Laird Street Medical Centre, in Birkenhead; St James’s Catholic High School, in Stockport; and St Mary’s Primary School, in Dukinfield.
Nobles believes its progress, despite the recession, is based on a number of factors including the decision by its directors to carry zero debt, its avoidance of the residential market bubble, the diversity of its portfolio, and its experience in the public, commercial and retail and leisure sectors.
Director Peter Linford said: “We’re really pleased to be continuing the success of last year.
“It hasn’t been easy and it’s increasingly challenging to win new business with fewer tenders out there and project delays.
“Fortunately, our business plan has never incorporated borrowing to fund growth, which has placed us in a strong position during the recession and allowed us to maintain our steady but determined development.
“The business is built on solid foundations, and we will continue with this approach as we believe it represents the best way to manage and sustain a successful and robust company.”
It was reported last week in LDP Business that Nobles had completed a £1.4m extension and refurbishment of St George’s Medical Centre, in Wallasey.
The project took 11 months to complete and forms a key part of Wallasey’s vision to expand and update the healthcare service it provides.
The 9,100 sq ft extension has doubled the size of the medical practice.
