Nuclear deal for Cumbrian marine group

MARINE services firm James Fisher has acquired Leyland-based MB Faber in a deal worth £5.25m.

The business, which provides electrical and engineering services to the nuclear and aerospace industries, will be integrated with James Fisher’s Cumbrian nuclear decommissioning business.

Schools deal for Carillion

CARILLION and its joint venture partners have secured the £500m Durham Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, which will deliver over 40 schools in four waves over the 10-year contract period.

Revenues rise

SOCIAL housing repairs and maintenance firm Mears reported a 14% rise in revenues in the six months to June 30. The group said earnings rose 18%, but pre-tax profits dipped 5% to £7.3m.

Record fall

FINANCIAL services firm London Capital Group posted its first drop in profit since listing in 2005, with a 37% plunge in underlying pre-tax profits to £3.75m in the six months to June 30.
