Maghull wins planning approval for hotel in Hope Street

PLANS to refurbish Hope Street’s Hahnemann Building into a boutique hotel have been approved by Liverpool City Council.

Maghull Developments, the developer behind the proposed £80m investment in Liverpool’s Hope Street, now has planning consent to convert the Hahnemann Building at 42 Hope Street and its neighbour, 58 Hope Street, into a four star 50-bedroom boutique hotel with bar, restaurant and day-spa.

The revised plans follow Maghull Developments’ earlier application for a 62-bedroom hotel, which was withdrawn in 2008 when the building was granted Grade II-listed status.

Michael Hanlon, managing director of Maghull Developments, said: “We considered the comments made in respect of the previous applications very carefully.

“We’re delighted with this positive outcome.”
