THE financial circumstances of North West households have suffered most from recession – that is the claim in an Institute of Financial Planning poll, as part of Financial Planning Week.
It said the region recorded the biggest national six-month drop in household financial circumstances.
The poll claims 53% of North West households said their financial circumstances worsened – 10% more than the national average. Some 31% of people in the region are pinning their hopes of improving their financial situation on winning the lottery, while only 20% are satisfied with their current financial position.
Institute chief executive Nick Cann warned: “While the financial circumstances of a great deal of people have got worse in the last six months, this is not the time to bury their heads in the sand by ignoring financial problems in the hope they go away.”
