A RETAIL skills training centre has been set up in shopping complex Liverpool One.
The shopping centre has established Academy One, on Hanover Street, in partnership with the National Skills Academy for Retail.
It is the latest retail training centre to open after the launch of 18 Academies across the UK in April this year.
Managed by the UK Career Centre, the Academy will support retailers across the city and Merseyside, from Ellesmere Port to Southport, St Helens and Knowsley.
It will cover all aspects of the retail industry, including recruitment and pre- employment training, through to degree level qualifications and management training.
Sarah Carthy, Liverpool One human resources director, said: “In the tough economic climate, it is more important than ever that employers can call on highly skilled and motivated people to drive the retail sector to success.”
Academy One will work with regional partners, including John Moores University, St Helens Chamber, Sefton@Work, Knowsley Council and Liverpool Council.
