Turtle Wax secures £1.6m of funding from RBS

A SKELMERSDALE-BASED car care products manufacturer has secured a £1.6m debt facility to fund an expansion drive.

Turtle Wax, which has its international manufacturing and distribution centre in the town, plans to use the funding to expand its operations and “aggressively” grow its turnover during the next three years.

The debt facility is being provided by Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

Turtle Wax was founded By Ben Hirsch in Chicago more than 50 years ago and opened its Skelmersdale site in 1966.

It specialises in the manufacture of car care products such as waxes, polishes, lubricants, paint restorers and air fresheners.

It is targeting growth in both its UK and export sales market, and is also looking to expand its presence in the professional car wash sector.

Tim Brunt, vice-president of finance, said: “We already export to over 50 countries and are confident that we can expand into emerging markets. As we grow our operations, it is essential that we have a robust funding structure in place.”
