Provexis’s blood pressure down as Fruitflow trial is on track

HEALTHY drinks group Provexis has reported satisfactory progress with the latest trial of its core product, Fruitflow.

The firm, which has a 75% interest in a joint venture with the University of Liverpool, specialises in using extracts from tomatoes and bananas for medical benefits.

It has developed Fruitflow, a tomato-based drink that thins the blood and helps circulation.

The current trial, which is being undertaken at Aberdeen’s Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health, supports the company’s aim to provide a daily dietary supplement with a significant effect on blood flow that does not completely suppress platelet aggregation.

Provexis chief executive Stephen Moon said: “We are very pleased that these interim results highlight the potential of Fruitflow as an effective and safe dietary supplement which significantly reduces platelet aggregation in all users.”

In September, it announced plans to strengthen its balance sheet with a £5m rights issue.

The firm has lost £5.6m in its last two financial years, and is looking for the cash injection to enable it to grow.
